i have a toshiba 17 widescreen laptop with MCE factory
installed. the problem is when i want to watch TV it will
not display in the 16:9 ratio. it seems to be stuck in the
4:3 and as a result i cant fully use my screen i get the 2
black bars on the side. is there a way to change this so
that i may watch TV in the widescreen 16:9 ratio or am i
just screwed and have a useless widescreen laptop?? Please
    HELP thanks

Is the DVD you bought stating Widescreen Edition? if not, then you have the
Home Edition of the movie or the 4:3 format movie...

also you need to be playing in the Intervideo WinDVD software for the movie
to work correctly with MCE on a Tashiba... if you have set up another DVD
player software, then you need to uninstall it.. launch Win DVD, set the
options for Widescreen when the movie is playing.. exit the Win DVD
software, then launch MCE.. however, you don't get to use the Win DVD
enhancements like SRS or Dolby Digital in MCE or slow motion or screen
capture, or almost 60 % of the WinDVD features.. I use MCE for TV only so I
can record it and burn to DVD.. other than that, for music, I use media
Player 9 software so i can use the Graphic EQ, Fade in, SRS, and the
Visualizations.. U use MCE for My Pictures sometimes when i show pics to
friends, however, when viewing to edit, I first use the Picture Viewer built
in XP then send them to Paintshop Pro Anaversary Edition for editing....

it all depends on how you choose to use the programs you have installed...
and what you want to hear.. to me MCE is strictly for the TV Tuner and
    showing pictures off...

the rest i do them manually, like movies, I set up the sound I want during
the FBI warning, take a seat, then enjoy....

does your P25-S607 still function? Mine has always suffered from not preventing itself from running hot.

I have since installed SuSe linux on it... massive upgrade ;)

I'll never buy another Toshiba: ZERO customer service follow through
