Tried to run Vista upgrade advisor, and got cannot run winstat?

  5. Assuming you mean "XP" it sounds like you need to shutdown some apps that
    you may have running in the background. For a good result I suggest that
    you do a clean boot and see if it runs then.

    a clean boot.
