    Hello,

we are experiencing trouble joining a new Win2003 R2 server to a existing
Windows 2003 domain (not R2). We are getting the following error message
    when using "dcpromo.exe":
"The version of the Active Directory Schema of the source forest is not
compatible with the version of the Active Directory on this computer."

We ran "adprep" on the existing (P)DC which also holds the GC without any
change. Adprep reported that the forest and the domain is already updated.
    What are we missing?

    Thanks for looking,

    Stefan

  2. Hello,
You run adprep from what source? You should run adprep from R2 CD...

    Nick,

thanks for responding. We did run it form the R2 install CD-ROM.

Thanks for waking me up. You guys caught me asleep behind the wheel again. I
keep forgetting that the first CD is a regular win2003 disc.

For future reference, the path is " :\cmpnents\r2\adprep\adprep.exe"
    Thanks guys,

    Stefan
