    Hi Kevin

Thanks again! I'll setup WINS on my server and see if this resolves some
issues. Another thing I found weird though...not sure if it's related to my
current issues but, if I don't include the DNS (my Server) entry in TCP/IP
properties of my client systems...they have no network access at all even
though I have it setup in DHCP. Is this normal or is my DHCP missing
something perhaps? Anyway...I want to say thanks again cuz you've been a
    huge, huge help help!!!

    Thanks

    P'

Is DHCP assigning only the internal DNS servers in option 006?
Do not confuse option 006 (DNS Servers) with option 005 (Nameservers) they
    are not the same.

    Hey Kevin

Actually...that may be my problem. I have the external DNS entries (of my
ISP) in option 5. Is that incorrect? And I have my internal Linux gateway
box listed in option 3. This is how it was setup in Winnt 4.0.

  5. In
Yes, it is incorrect, in an Active Directory domain environment, do not use
your ISP's DNS in any position, use only the DNS server for the AD domain,
even if you only have one.

    Ok..makes sense.

Then as long as I have my ISP's DNS names in my forwarder...it should be
    fine?

    Thnx again!

  7. In
Forwarders are optional, as long as the Root Hints are working.

    ok...sounds good.

So...if I setup wins, would this possibly help with the name resolution
problem I'm having on my home networks when connecting thru VPN? Also...in
dhcp, do I add my server IP to the DNS server option and just removemy other
    reference in option 5?

Boy...sorry if I sound like a broken record here but I just want to be sure
    I don't screw something up.

    Thanks Tons!

  9. In
Yes add your server and remove the ISP's DNS from the option.
You can also assign the WINS server with option 044 and Node type with
    option 046
