trying to connect xbox 360 to Media Centre - hangs on contacting

    hi i have followed all the instructions on the xbox web site to connect my
    xbox 360 to media centre, i have everything installed on my pc working
    correctly

    i am connecting using a wired connection through a linksys wrt54gs-uk
    wireless router, in the test media setting on the xbox everything except
    'wireless network' is confirmed/connected

    when i select Media Centre from the xbox the page hangs on media centre
    contacting

    please please help me

    i confirm that i have no virus protection enabled and my firewall is
    disconnected

    any help ?

    i have seen this problem posted so many times on the net and not yet found
    anyone with a solution, surely there is a solution ? otherwise i wasted a
    whole lot of money

  3. Temporarily connect the Xbox 360 console directly to the Media Center PC by
    using an Ethernet cable and attempt the connection again.. Note This cable
    can be a straight Ethernet cable or a cross-over Ethernet cable. This will
    assist to narrow down if the issue is on the PC or the network.

    If your issue continues when PC and Xbox are directly connected, check for
    updated drivers for our network card.
    You may also want to check the Application, System, and Security Event
    Viewer logs (right
    click My Computer --> Manage) for any errors corresponding to the time that

    you tried to connect
