TV jerky on Portable Media Center from Media Center PC! Help :)

Discussion in 'Windows Media Center' started by Ali \(Alastair Maggs\), Oct 18, 2004.

  1. Hiya, I'm in the UK with a media center PC 2004 and a Creative PMC. When I
transfer recorded TV shows from my MC PC to my PMC, the playback on the
device is rather jerky - plays smoothly for about 4 seconds then freezes for
    a couple.

I'm tried changing the quality of the recording/transfer but all that does
is makes it worse, I still get the jerkyness but in less quality :). Any
    ideas?

    Thanks!

  2. Hmm, could that be a 50Hz vs 60Hz issue? If you're in the UK, your
recordings will be 50Hz (interlaced), while US recordings are 60Hz
    (interlaced).

I haven't actually heard from anyone in Europe with a PMC yet. Are they
officially available here? Did you buy yours in the UK, or did you import
    it from the USA?

I'll set the Followup-To to the dedicated PMC newsgroup, so if you reply to
this post, it will show up there. Make sure you subscribe to

  3. Also take a look at what processes are running in the background. Intel's
application accellerator is known to cause the same types of issues. There
may be others that I'm not aware of as well. I had a similar jumpiness every
three to four seconds because of the intel app, once I got rid of it, picture
    smoothed out again.
