I have two Operating syatems on my compaq laptop. they are both windows xp
and both run the same files. The only differance is that one is windows xp
home edition, and the other is the same, but it has a (bootscreen) written
    after it.
I am concerned that if i upgrade to vista on one of them, will the other
    upgrade as well?

In the event that Vista will allow you to "upgrade" one of the installations
    - the other should be OK. BUT, upgrading in Vista is different than in XP.
You can "upgrade" from previous versions - but only certain versions will
allow you to upgrade the old OS, others will require a clean install.
