  2. You have a valid point. I must be missing some detail. :)

    To reply to your questions
1 Yes I can open the saved jpg files
2 No I have not disabled any component in AVG
3 No I don't have any 3rd party firewall installed.

I hope I have answered all your questions. Do you want me to disable any
component in AVG? If I do that, would my system be secure?

    Thanks for the help
    Best Regards

  4. In my third post in this thread, I asked you to remove (not just disable)
    "AVG's Search-Shield, Active Surf-Shield & Security toolbar (cf.
    http://free.avg.com/faq.num-1247#faq_1247)."

    Best of luck.

I removed Search Shield by reinstalling AVG full version. But no joy. Since
Microsoft is aware of this problem, it is safe to assume that they will soon
come up with a patch for IE8 to resolve this problem. Let's hope. I live
    with the problem until then.

  6. But you didn't do that before you reinstalled IE8, did you?

No I did not. Do have to go through the whole process again? It is quite
    cumbersome.

  8. It's your computer so it's up to you.

  9. There is no use at all in repeating the steps!
If a system is bitten by the IE8-WinMail bug it will stay in this state.
    No way out.

It really does not matter at all if any AV software is actually
installed or had been installed in the past.

Pls do not believe in PA Bear's wild AV theories.
They are just based on mere assumptions and do not have anything to do
    with reality.

  10. That's only too natural!!!

Contrary to PA Bear's wild AV theories normally the existence of AV
software (be it current or a thing of the past) is not part if the
    game with the IE8-WinMail bug.
    Your wish into God's ear!!
So far no one knows whether MS is even "aware" of the problem/bug!!
I for one do not hope at all.
Probably Gary is right in assuming that we will never see a fix (as MS
has deprecated WinMail in favor of "Love Mail").

    But: Who knows?
