UNABLE TO INSTALL ANY UPDATES!!!!! PLEASE HELP!

Discussion in 'Windows Update' started by David Measles, Apr 6, 2004.

  1. I have just installed Windows XP Pro. The first thing I
did after connecting to the Internet was go to the
    Windows Update website.

After scanning for updates, I tried to download and
install Service Pack 1a. After the download was
    complete, it refused to install.

I am logged on as Admin.

I tried to install other update. ALL failed! Any ideas!

And yes, I have already activated & registered my copy of
    Win Xp Pro.

    Hi David,

did you get any error messages? It is really hard to get down to the problem
unless you give some more imformation about your setup
(standalone/network??; programs running during installation??; etc.)

    Kind regards,

This is a known issue with an older version of AOL. Are you using AOL to
access Windows Update? If so: After signing on to AOL click the Start
button then click the Windows Update Icon. This will start Windows Update
using the version of Internet Explorer that comes with the operating system.

Also verify you can successfully install outside of Windows Update. Here's
    the link to download SP1a.

    Let me know the results.
