    Hi all,

I've just bought an O2 XDA2s, and have been unable to
sycnronise notes between the device and outlook.

    I'm running win2k, AS 3.8 and outlook 2003.

All other sections work fine (files, inbox, databases etc).

I have tried running scanpst on my outlook datafiles,
creating a new .pst and importing my data, uninstalling
activesync, creating new partnerships (whilst deleting old
ones), deleting all notes on both sides, hard reseting the
device and starting from scratch, everything basicly.

    does anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

You seem to have done pretty much everything. I would like to know -

    * If you receive any specific error or does the notes appeared grayed out?
    * Are the Notes stored in sub folders in Outlook?

    Raj,

    1) The notes apear greyed out, and i get the option to
resolve the issue. After attempting to resolve I get an
error message stating that it is not possible to syncronise
    at this time.

    2) I have no subfolders for notes at all.

    Many thanks,

    Mike

  4. if notes are created on the pocketpc and "notes" is not checked in
activesync, they will then be synced as files rather than outlook objects.

As a result, "notes" can't be checked in activesync if these synced
    notes or recorder files exist.

To resolve, move _all_ of your notes and .wav files in the sync folder
and on the ppc completely out of their folders (don't put them in lower
    folders) then sync again.

After you confirm that there are no notes (pwi) or recorder (wav) files
in either location or any of their subdirectories, open activesync and
check the notes option. Generate one note on the ppc and sync again.

Once you confirm that notes are syncing to outlook, _on the ppc_, you
can then move the notes file back into the ram My Documents folder and
sync again... they (notes and recorder files) should then appear only in
    outlook

    Beverly,

I followed your suggestion to the letter, and unfortunatley
I still could not sync notes.

The notes line in the details section of AS is greyed out
    with the message "Attention required".

When I try to resolve I get a message box stating that
"Items of one or more information types cannot be
syncronised. Please disconect and reconnect your device"

As an aside, I've just had a look at your website, its a
    very good resource.

    Many thanks

    Mike

  6. Sorry that I am not there to see (and learn) what's going on, but the
next step I would suggest is if there are notes in outlook, to archive
them, then delete them as well...

Check again on the ppc and assure that there are no notes visible when
you open the notes app and view the notes' file menu as well as
re-verifying that there are none in any of your pc's sync folder or any
of the folders that it contains.

The connect and re-sync with no notes existing is a part of the process
to get rid of the "greyed icon"

Two other final attemps would be to take the steps shown at
    http://BevHoward.com/ASync.htm#Forms

....then, after a dummy sync, reboot both the pc and the ppc.

Many Thanks Beverly, but notes will not sync.
I think I'm going to uninstall outlook and AS, hard reset
the pda, then re-install bit by bit to see where the
    problem appears.

    Thanks for all your help.
