Unbearable screeching noise when using MSN 7.5 and Logitech QuickC

I have recently installed two Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks in two
(actually three) computers. One works flawlessly with a Sony Vaio 1.8 GHz
celeron. The otrher produce terrible screeching noises when coupled with
both a Emachine Celeron 1.0 and a HP Athlon 64 and MSN 7.5 (there is no noise
when using the camera for recording off-line videos). Also the last two
machine allows a satisying video conversation when couple with a 2002
Creative PC-CAM + headphone. All machines use XP.
Logitech customer support blamed MSN Messenger as cause of the noise,
offered no soluition (shouldn't they know how one of the just 4 messaging
system works??) and just told me to ask MSN people. So here I am. I read
several posting like mine in the previous months. Does anyone have a
solution for this apparent MSN/QuickCAm incompatibility in certain computers?
(Hint, I already unchecked the QoS Packet Scheduler, installed the latest
version of the drivers, eliminated any other camera software, and tried the
headphones, with no result. The only way to make it working is to turn the
volume of the microphone to zero, which is not very satisfying).
