Update fails reply from microsoft

Discussion in 'Windows Update' started by Ray &Fran, Jul 13, 2007.

  1. Either don't get it (mark it not to tell you again) or tell us specifically
    it is doing.

    Event Log?
    Repeating over and over?

Did you manually download the 928366 patch and install it or automatic
    updates or web page?

Shenan, I think you need to chill a bit.

You're coming across quite shrill -- and pedantic -- in this thread.

  3. "MikeC" presented what they had done and I pointed out that beyond the small
blurb about having uninstalled/reinstalled, we knew very little about the
specific predicament. "Still No Joy" tells me very little and "MikeC" has
not posted elsewhere in this thread that I see to know exactly what they are

I then proceded to inquire if there was an error... Anything in the Event
Log... Or was the update just repeating over and over. I also asked
specifically how the update was aquired and attempted to be installed.

That's this off-shoot of the thread...

In another part of this thread I tried to point out that not having a backup
plan for your computer is not wise in ANY case - and that this sort of thing
is pretty much a fine example of why it is wise to backup your
computer/files. I even pointed out that backing up did not have to be
complicated by any means.. simply burning a CD/DVD or copying files from one
drive to another could be a backup - if you are doing it periodically and to
the stuff that is actually important to you.

I even tried to simplify (and pull out the excessive material) from the
original post. It seems the email had too many "what ifs" in it to be
easily understood and followed to me - so I thought I might try and assist
and pull out those "what ifs" and just leave the actual steps and explain -
in one sentence - what the solution was actually doing.

I'm sorry if all that seems to make me a pedant in your eyes or if my
repeating (the formatting never seemed to work and I am sorry I posted it
three times without a positive result in that manner) presents my responses
as shrill to you... But they are meant to be helpful.

After all - what's the point of going through something like this and not
even getting any knowledge out of it to help avoid it (or recover more
quickly at the very least) in the future...? And yes - if history (and the
archives of these newsgroups) shows us anything - it is that it *will* be

Ok I bit the bullet and followed the instruction you posted in simple terms
    Shenan .
Everything seemed to go great no error messages and everything came back
stating all the info had been installed . All that being said this is the
    final result

1 I still have the yellow sign in my task bar telling me i have updates to
install . When I click on this it tells me I need to insatll KB928367

2 I go Microsoft update page and it shows me that Kb 928367 needs to be

3 I go to add/remove programs in control panel and this is what I have
    Microsoft.net framework V1.0.37505
    hot fix KB886906
    1.1 and 1.1 hotfix 928366
    2.0 and 2.0 hotfix 928365
    3.0 and hotfix 932471
Any suggestions please and thank you

The links you posted are not valid. I get the "page not found" error.

  12. As I said - the formatting got messed up and the running together ruined it.
They are valid if you copy manually - but...

Now you don't have to. ;-)
