update is not working/not recognizing old version

Hello,
although our windows is not state of art on all computers
the automatic update routine does not work properly. Some
of our 98se machines just get the message that there is
not any update - in spite of the fact that we run iE 5.0
etc.
What can I do to update even this ones ???

In the WINDOWS folder you'll find a Windows Update.log. Open it with
Notepad. Scroll down towards the bottom ... if you find these error
codes - 0x800C0008 or 0x80072EE4 try this :

Check the date and time of each computer to ensure that they are accurate.
Open Internet Options via the Control Panel. On the first page (General)
click the Languages button. Make sure that a language has been chosen
for Internet Explorer.
Now, where it says Temporary Internet files click Settings, click View
Files. Delete all files and Cookies.
