Messenger is not available right now. Please try again later. (0x8ac70004)

How long have people been having this problem, and still Microsoft has done
nothing to get this problem out of WLM. We were practically forced to upgrade
to a version which makes it impossible to call a contact through WLM...
And no effective solution to be found anywhere. Come on Microsoft ... Solve
this, and get the message around, or send out an update !!

Hi so I think I finally found out what the problem with this was and it is
due to the Microphone that comes with the webcam. This is for Windows XP SP3

    Just go to Control Panel,
Select Sounds and Audio Devices Properties
    Go to the Audio Tab
Make sure that the default device for Sound Playback for the sound recording
    are the same.
    Go to the Voice Tab
Make sure that the Default Device on Voice Playback and Voice Recording are
    the same too.

I hope this fixes your problems.

    Thanks,

    AR

Do you have VMware (or VirtualBox) installed on your machine? On my PC, I

    1) disabled the VWware network cnnections VMnet1 and VWnet8
    2) disabled the VirtualBox Host-Only Network (may not require)
    3) exit and restart Windows Live Messenger.

The video call worked fine afterwards.

AHA! VMWare NAT hoses up Live Messenger. Outstanding find! I use bridging
anyway, so killing NAT and Host-Passthru NIC'ing worked! Thanks!

  8. That is real weird that microsoft still dont have a solution to this errors.
I dont know what else causes this problem, but appearently VMWARE interferes
    with LIVE messenger.
Problem is solved when i disabled WMNET1 and VMNET8. I am always using
Briged networking so it is fine for me to keep them closed.

    thanks
