    Hi all,

I have been trying to upgrade from Windows XP Tablet Edition to Vista
Ultimate on my Travelmate C300 laptop.

I have found the following error file after the install fails in the location:

    C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther

    The file is called:

    setuperr.log

The content is quite long but i will post it here - can anyone help me
decipher it and advise how i can upgrade to Vista?

    setuperr.log *** Content

probably need drivers for it. Might check the
    manufacturer's web page.

Why do you say I need drivers? I was looking for something a little more
helpful - maybe someone to tell me what the errors mean and how they should
be approached. I'll investigate drivers but could use a little more...

    Ahem.

    http://www.acerpanam.com/flex/acerdrivers/bin/drivers.html?CFID=6377190&CFTOKEN=74618629

But I don't see any Vista specific drivers. You can ensure that the updates
    are
installed from that page and then try again. Does your notebook say "Vista
    ready?

Have you run the Vista upgrade advisor on it?

Your system specs look ok, but there is no information on the
site indicating that they are making any available drivers for
your notebook. There are also no help topics.

SO you may want to ask them at ACER if they support it.

Ah... apologies and please excuse my ignorance - you are quite correct.

Acer do not officially support it and I now find that the only successful
installs appear to be format and reinstall rahter than upgrade.

Looks like i'll stick with XP a little longer and see if any other methods
appar to get round this. But will consider a completely fresh install.
Apparently the 'special' buttons stop working so perhaps this tablet is
actually redundant after only three years - a little sickening but i suppose
it is to be expected in this day and age.

Thank you for being so calm in responding. MUCH appreciated. I will not be
so quick to be rude in future.

    Cheers Curt,

    Rob.

    No problem.

They may get around to doing it. If enough people
    ask them.
