upgraded sus to wsus--all clients not showing up, but getting upda

Discussion in 'Update Services' started by stephen Johnson, Jul 19, 2005.

  1. we did a clean install of wsus, but not all of our clients are showing up,
but they seem to be getting updates.

Clients don't seem to be self updating, but the selfupdating tree is
    responding fine.

all clients are xp pro sp1.

    Thanks

  2. If they're not selfupdating.. they're not getting updates...

If they're not getting updates.. they're not going to show up on the server.

    What do the logfiles report???

  3. That would normally make sence, but in this case most of the users are
getting updates but are not showing up in the console. I've looked at the
logs and they seem to indicate that they are talking.

    thanks

  4. If they're actually getting the updates and are successfully reporting, but
they're not showing up, then analyze the configuration of your target
    groups.

Typically what happens is that the client reports itself into target group
'A', but target group 'A' does not exist on the WSUS server, thus, it is not
/displayed/ even though the data is in the database.

  5. O.K? the target groups are being done at the server. the client side
targeting isetting is Not Configured. Currently we only have 2 groups. I
    will look the my settings.

    Thanks
