Upgrading failing due to winnt.sif file missing

I am trying to upgrade a Small Business Server 2000 and I am failing after it
switches to the screen telling you how many minutes until completion. The
message i am getting is this " Setup was unable to create, locate, or modify
a critical file c:\winnt.sif needed to start windows. Access is denied.

I have tried searching the internet and that file has something to do with
unattended installations which i am not doing. I am simply running setup from
within Server 2000. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  2. That file would be on your CD.

Can you explain more about what your existing server condition is before you
start, and what version you are installing up to, and if this is a clean
install, in-place upgrade, or some other approach?
