Upgrading from NT 4.0 pitfalls

I'm in the planning stages of installing a Windows
Server 2003 onto our network and making it the PDC. Our
current PDC is running NT 4.0. I've looked over the
    documentation from
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/upgrading/nt4/d
    efault.mspx
Is there any specific pitfalls that we may run into
in this project? Specifically, since we are not
upgrading our current NT 4.0 box (which we cannot upgrade
due to some hardware failures), but rather adding a new
server? Is the Windows 2003 Server going to
automatically become the PDC, or can we add it to our
network as a BDC? We plan on taking one of our NT 4.0
BDC's off the network as a backup, but is there anything
    else we are overlooking?
    Thanks!
