I manage a SBS 2003 (R2) network and was wondering if there was any way in
Active Directory to see a user's current password? Without having to create
and use a password reset disk or go in AD and reset a user's password, I was
hoping to be able to send the user an encrypted e-mail with their current
password in it when forgotten. Is this possible?

    Sure appreciate the help!

    Thanks!

  2. No - you can't see passwords. A reset disk wouldn't be necessary or useful
for a domain user account like this anyway.

Just reset the password if the user doesn't remember it, and tick the box
that forces it to be changed on the next login. You can come up with a
generic default password (e.g., JaneSmith123) and let them know you've
changed it "....to the default." Put the onus on the user to remember his
    or her password....it's their responsibility.
