When I first use DevCon.exe to install driver in a clean Wxp, the
driver work fine and I can find the Hard Disk that I connected at
device management's Disk Drive item. It also display the name
    correctly. For example : Maxtor 6 Y060M0 SCSI Device Disk...etc. So I
execute DevCon.exe to remove driver(DevCon remove <HardwareID>) and
    reboot the OS.

The problem is here. When I use DevCon.exe to install driver again,
the driver can install successfully. But the device management's Disk
Drive only display "Disk Drive" to indicate the Hard Disk.

I also use inf update to install driver and display the name
correctly. Have any body know this phenomenon? Thank you.

    Best Regards

    Hi Phil,

Thanks your suggeste. But include *.inf and *.sys are removed while
execute driver un-installation. So, if I use "devcon rescan" to do a
PnP. The hardware wizard will pop up. This is not my wish.

    Best Regards

I don't remember seeing that behavior, but it's been a while. Sorry if I
    mislead you.
