Using legacy applications safely

    I have a couple of legacy applications. They will receive no further updates, including security updates. Can anyone suggest a good method of keeping/using the applications safely. Safely means avoiding security exploits etc.Idealy, I would like to keep them in their current locations and they should run as usual.

    RAM 1GB
    CPU: Pentium D
    Dell system
