Utility to Convert from Physical into .vhd?

I just attended your Technet Briefing yesterday in the
King of Prussia. Two different instructors mentioned that
Ghost can convert from physical servers into a Virtual PC.

I mentioned to one of them that we had tried to Ghost from
physical into a virtual hard-drive, & it didn't work. He
said there was a utility from Ghost that directly converts
the hard-drive into a .vhd file. I have searched
Symantec's site, downloaded a trial version of ghost, and
    still can't find this utility.

Does anyone know of such a utility, either from Symantec,
Microsoft, or some other 3rd party?

    Thanks much.

I've never heard of such a thing. A lot of users on this
forum use Ghost, and no one has ever mentioned the
existence of such a utility (converting directly to a
    VHD).

You can use Ghost to restore an image to a VM. You have
to take into account all of the issues with different
    hardware platforms (physical vs. emulated)

Ghosting a physical machine into a VM is not a problem; we do this all the
time. You should run sysprep before you take the image though to cut down on
the "new hardware found" and any incompatibilities. After running sysprep,
Ghost the machine and apply the GHO file to a VHD - this works just fine.
