Very Slow Moving/Copying Files

I ahve just installed a new hard drive and want to move the music files from
the old drive to the new one.
However, moving standard files is very quick but when I move files from the
old drive (from a directory that Windows Media "knows" is a music store) to
the new drive (also into a directory configured to store music) the system
    just goes into limbo!
It starts quick enough but then freezes - does a littel spurt - and then
freezes again and copying a single track takes 30 minutes or fails.

Any ideas - I presume it must be something that the windows Media library is
    doing to keep track.

  2. I don't know why you would be running WMP while doing the file transfer.
If you're simply copying/moving files locally on your PC then I would
check for other programs that are running and competing or system resources.
