Very Slow Synchronisation of Laptop to SBS2008 Server

Discussion in 'Windows Small Business Server' started by Nigel Ainscoe, Aug 6, 2009.

  1. My client has a laptop that I added to his SBS network (via connect computer
wizard) with folder redirection to the server. I used his laptop profile as
the basis for the domain profile and this all worked fine. I expected the
initial synchronisation to take a while but he came to log on this morning
and from the initial log in, to the desktop appearing, took about 40
minutes. I went in to their office and tried restarting and the same thing
happened. I checked the network traffic on the server while this was
happening and it was running at less than 1% so I'm even more confused.

I don't want him to lose the benefit of the server sync but I do need to do
something. Does anyone have any advice or other experience on this problem?

    Just so I am clear:
Are you only synchronizing the folder or are you roaming the profile?
Also, are there other user profiles (even broken ones) on the laptop?

  3. Thank you for your reply. The situation seems to have resolved itself now
that offline files are fully synchronised.
