VERY slow writing to DVD drive in Vista

I have a new computer (dual core 2.13GHz) computer with a dual boot to Vista
Home Premium and WinXP sp2. When I try to copy/write files to my DVD+RW
disks in Vista the write times are MUCH slower than in WinXP, so much so that
I will reboot into XP if I have many files to write. It seems to be 5 to 10
times faster in XP. I cannot understand why there should be such a
difference. In Vista the DVD drive is listed as running at DMA mode 4. In
XP it is only listed as DMA mode 2, making it even more strange. Is this
happening to others? If so, is there any chance MS will correct this with
SP1 of Vista? It seems that writing to the hard drive is also slower in
Vista but I can't document that for sure, as it isn't so obvious. In XP I
use Roxio but it isn't compatible with Vista so I have to use Vista's built
    in DVD write system.
