Virtual PC could not open the Virtual Machine Network services driver

Discussion in 'Virtual PC' started by Alberto_From_Galicia \(Spain\), Jun 5, 2004.

  1. At first sorry for my bad English but I´m Spanish.

When i start virtual pc the next error message is
    displayed:

"Virtual PC could not open the Virtual Machine Network
    Services driver.
Access to the external network and host will be
unavailable to all virtual machines using virtual
networking. Virtual machines using virtual networking
will still be able to access other virtual machines using
    virtual networking.
To fix this problem, re-enable the Virtual Machine
Network Services driver on one or more ethernet adapters
    or reinstall Virtual PC."

Can anybody help me to fix that problem? A lot of thanks.

  2. Hi,

Check the properties for your Network Card and make sure that Virtual
Machine Network Services is there and has a checkmark next to it

I had this problem existing even after I tried to reload
the VPC or run the install.bat. Infact the network
adapter's properties clearly show a checkmark against the
Virtual Machine network servcies but I couldn't see the
Virtual machine network servcies through "device manager->
Show hidden devices". I could only rectify the problem by
starting a clean installation on a secondary hard drive.

    Thanks

  4. Does the physical NIC work for the guests when it is connected?

Have you gotten the latest NIC drivers from the NIC manufacturer's
    site?

Have you disabled TCP offloading on the NICs?

  6. Did you ensure that the account you were logged into when you ran the
install.bat utility was not in the "Network Configuration Operators"
    group?
