Vista Device numbering issue.

Discussion in 'Windows Vista Talk' started by The Kontaminator, Jan 3, 2008.

  1. Following a motherboard failure my LAN controller and Bluetooth adapter
are now numbered as #2 - You can try and rename them in Network
Connections, but unable to in Device manager. When you do attempt to
rename by removing the '#2' it says that a connection with the same name
already exists, when it bloody well doesn't.

Any ideas how to rectify this trivial caper?

    Thanks.

There is no way to change the numbering scheme...
    the registry keys are undeletable
it's not new to Vista...XP worked the same way.

At any rate...it will not hurt anything
