Open Control Panel>Windows Update, check to see that it is set to
Automatically install new updates every day. Also check
Start>Run>services.msc>Windows Update. Check that the service is set to
start automatically(delayed start is the default setting), check to see that
    the service is started.

everything seems fine setup wise. It just stopped working on the
    30th.
it says it checked for updates yesterday and I just did
    a manual check and nothing.

You might want to post to the experts in the windows update newsgroup.
