I have a Compaq Vista home basic and am trying connect by wireless to a
D-Link router for internet. It will connect by ethernet cable OK, but
not wireless whatever I do, And obviously need to do somehting else.

A friend has an Win XP PC and that connects OK by wireless.

I have a strong signal, have adapters all on, have set up a connection
same as in router. Have dropped firewall and encryption. Have
configured it according to connections in internet control panel.
    Diagnosis does not help.

Maybe some one has had simiilar problem and knows of a setting that I
    am missing somewhere ?

  2. I had exactly the same problem with a brand new Lenovo 3000 N100. It worked
fine with an ethernet cable connected but no matter what I did I couldn't
    get wireless to work.

I called Lenovo and they recommended that I reformat the hard drive and
reinstall Vista (business) Well, it worked, no problems since.
