I run a Windows 2003 SP2 R2 native AD domain with DFSR shares replicated on
    three machines (2 x64s, 1 x32). I have XP x86s, Vista x86s and one Vista
x64 in the domain. The x64 box consistently loses connectivity to the DFS
share. I have to click on the share properties on the client, click on the
DFS tab, click "Check Status" on the shares to restore connectivity. Then
it loses it again after 30 minutes and I have to repeat process again. Note
that the status is ALWAYS OK once I click on the Check status button in the
    DFS tab.

No other machine has an issue except this one, so I must conclude that Vista
is (over)erring on the side of security in dropping the connection after a
few minutes even though files are open and being worked on.

  2. Not a Vista 64 vs 32 bit thing to my knowledge - far more likely the
differences in network drivers being loaded on the separate machines. Can
you tell me more about those?

  3. For something like this, I recommend opening a support case with Microsoft
Support. This will be tricky to troubleshoot in the newsgroups.I've not
heard of this myself but Vista is still relatively new.
