VPC 2004 trial - Console window too small and not sizeable

    Hi,

I successfully installed the VPC 2004 trial and have several
VMs with XP in them running fine.

The problem I have is that the "Virtual PC Console" window
is too small and appears unsizable. It has a sizing border,
but seems to refuse to resize. Is there some way to change
    the size of the console?

    Thanks,

It does resize, but only vertically.

It's sizable here, but only in the vertical direction, pulling either the
    top or bottom border.

    Hi Scott,

On my system when I hover the mouse over the
bottom of the console window an up-down arrow
does appear as expected, but dragging up and down
    doesn't do anything.

I figured out the reason the console is too narrow to
hold the VM descriptions on my system. I run my XP host
OS at 1280 x 1024. The characters are too small for me
with the "normal" (96 dpi) screen font, so I use a custom
screen font setting that makes the font larger than that.

Normal dialog boxes are "resolution virtual" enough to scale
up in size to compensate for this, but the VPC 2004 console
window apparently does not. I'd like to see that and/or
horizontal sizing added at some point.

I understand. My wife uses large fonts and many
applications simply become difficult to use, or dialogs
    are unreadable.

Definitely something Microsoft should put on the list to
    look at.

On my system when I hover the mouse over the
It will only get bigger if there are enough VM's to fill the view normally.
It's possible that the font size is interfering with the console and making
it not able to expand. You might want to test with a normal font size and
see if you get the same behavior, and if not, maybe changing to a different
    font will help.
It sounds like there may be a bug in the font handling for the VPC console,
but it's really hard to tell.

    Hi Robert and Scott,

I tried the "normal" 96 dpi XP screen font for the host OS
and that definitely "fixes" the problem. Then the full
description of each VM is visible in the console.

Since I always run with an big screen font (actually 160% of
normal size - [this isn't as extreme as it may sound]) I get to
be an involuntary "UI tester" for a lot of applications in
this regard :). Many developers implicitly assume everyone
will be running with the normal size screen fonts.

It's more an annoyance than anything. I just thought there
might be a setting I could tweak for this.

    Thanks,

I tried the "normal" 96 dpi XP screen font for the host OS
    That's what I figured.
I certainly understand as I don't always run the default font size either.
    :(
