VPN Error 628

Discussion in 'Server Networking' started by Dave Hutchings, Apr 4, 2008.

  1. I have windows Server 2008.
I configured Routing and Remote Access and had everything working perfectly.
I since install Hyper-V and enabled a second NIC card in the server. The
second NIC card is used by Hyper-V for virtual network purposes.
Both NICs get ip address from my routers DHCP.

My problem is that now, I get error 628 when ever I try to connect to my
vpn. I have turned of the firewall, uninstalled the routing and remote access
and set up from scratch and made sure that the Main (original NIC) is top of
    the adapter list.

I have turned on all the logging I can, but I am now lost in the maze of txt
files. Please could someone point me to the first few logs / entries I should
    be looking for?
So I have somewhere to start - or offer advice?

I have tried disabling the second NIC and putting it back as it was, but I
am now afraid I have messed up internal registry configs to a point where
    they are unfixable?

If some one could offer some advice I would be grateful.

I am not a networking guru, I am a software developer - who has an
    intermediate knowledge of networking.

    kind regards
