  2. Initially sounds like a heat issue. But it would help if you were a little
more clear. like, When you say shutdown, do you mean the system powers
itself off ? The game crashes, but windows is still up ? What video card are
you using, in fact what are your system specs altogether ?

Have you updated your video, sound motherboard drive with Vista drivers by
the manufacturer, instead of the ones supplied with Vista ?

Can you run other games ? programs ? Only with WC3 ?

    details details details

well, Since I made my last post I've had WarCraft 3 running (over 30 mins).
System specs is what kind of processor do you have, video card etc. If you
don't know, that's going to make it tough. But, if you bought your PC from
Dell, HP etc, then post the model number and we can look it up.

You can goto www.guru3d.com and download SANDRA 2005, it will be able to
give you your system specs as well.

  7. According to your SANDRA report you have the aspire 5610. The bad news is,
that uses the Intel Graphics card. I have little experience with those kinds
of cards and what experience I do have is that they suck beyond words.

It appears you haven't registered your laptop yet, because when I put in
your serial number it said you were not registered. So I would start wit
    that.
    https://secure.tx.acer.com/FindSystem/FindSystem.aspx?title=Information About Your System

from there you should get some more options about drivers and updates if
there are any. But given what I know, it may just boil down to a
    sub-standard graphics card.

You can do a google search for a program called Motherboard Monitor 5, which
will let you monitor the heat of your system and give you an alert. That way
you'll know if it's a heat issue or not. If it is, you'll have to shop
around and look for places that sell laptop coolers, I don't know how well
they work, but it might help out enough. Also make sure you laptop is well
    ventilated and not boxed in.

If nothing else, it could just be a bug with your system in which it's
overheating and shouldn't. You might have to log a call with Acer to find
out what's going on. which goes back to your need to register

Yea um when i tried to register it. It said this
SiebelSearch - SOCKET ERROR: No connection could be made because the target
    machine actively refused it

Whats all that mean? How do i fix it? I also figured out that it is my
graphics card that is over heating so can i buy a new one? Or where can i buy
    one or a cpu cooler?

  10. If it's your graphic card overheating in a laptop, then you'll have to log a
call with Acer and see what they'll do by way of the warranty. Normally they
will want you to provve to them it's the video card. But if nothign else,
they will pobably have you ship it to them, which could amount to a 2-3 week
wait. It's kinda hard to know those things.

Not much option on replacing a video card in a laptop. They are normally
    pretty locked in.

Hi Dale can you help with this please?

Halo 2 for VISTA, cant get past the opening credits
Ditto with Halo1 combat evolved. When I reach the mission after the "silent
Cartographer, my screen freezes up, then it goes to black, then back to the
game..,… and the message appears: "Display driver stopped responding and has
    recovered". Then another messages appears:
"Attempt to reset the display driver failed, windows will shut down so not
    cause any damage".
Any ideas please, NVIDIA Geforce 8800Gts card, latest driver, brand new
    computer.
Desperately disappointed, the computer was rated best buy for games.

Open the CD (Right click on CD Icon, choose Explore or Open)
Find the Setup file (usually Setup.exe), Right-Click on the icon and choose
    Properties.
    Click Compatibility Tab
Click first checkbox (Run this program in compatibility mode for:)
    Leave the line as is.
Check "Run this program as an administrator"
    Click OK

Now run the setup program normally. Once the game is installed make sure you
patch the game to the current version (just click on Multiplayer, should
patch automatically if you are on the internet).

Note, you can do this with any game that has problems installing because
some developers don't know how to properly code installers to check Windows
    versions.
