What is to stop Microsoft from making viruses just to get extra money from the support they supply? I sure seem to notice even the viral emergency center is unasisited help. Funny I notice Microsoft started charging for service and the reportrd viruses have shot out of sight. They no longer target banks, financial and commercial computers, but they seem to go after personal pc's now and they do it in a way only trained support and downloads can cure, Think about all that money? SUPPORT SUPPORT After all I paid $80.00 est.for Norton Simon to give help yesterday and they said the virus and worm can't do what microsoft says it will do. Now my operating system is AFU and no one seems to know or want to explain a fix. I reloaded XP and seems it was right back in a heart beat. I used virus removal, but it keeps turning off firewalls and services. Hmm good news maybe I'll have to buy a new one. But wait maybe I need to learn red hat linus or whatever it is.

  3. Scott,

What are you talking about? I really can't make much sense of what you
wrote. For starters, the real money for any corporation IS derived from
corporate clients, like banks, financial institutions, and big commercial
companies. The corporate clients are the one putting bread in Microsoft's
jars, not the individual users, so this conspiracy theory doesn't make much
    sense.

If you have problems with your operating system, I guess you should hire an
expert to help you fix it, if you have tried but haven't been able to, or
post your problem to the appropriate newsgroup, I'm sure a lot of people
will be willing to help you fix it, for free.

Finally, as you mentioned, there are still a variety of OS you can switch
to, such as Linux, FreeBSD, MacOS, etc...

    Good luck,

    Luis

    Wait a minute.
The way I see it if you get a virus on your computer you
did it to yourself. I am not sorry to be so blunt. If
you get a stomach virus how much does it cost to go to
your doctor for medicine? How much does it cost per
year for oil change every 3000 miles on your car? What
about food every week? Do you take the family to the
    movies very often?

Maybe there was a dialog box that popped up asking if you
wanted to download a font and you hit no. Well hitting
no is sometimes same as yes. I always pick corner[x].
Maybe you opened an email attachment. I never even open
email from any sender unless I know who it is or I am
expecting the email. Straight to delete file and purge.

I have had a windows computers since win3.1 days. Have
had my winXP for one year and have not seen a virus on it
yet. Have used Norton Security+AV (free with rebates)
and I surf around at least 30-50 different sites per
week. I delete cookies, history and temp files almost
daily. Have 2 email accounts (yahoo.com and aol.com) and
only get spam with virus on the yahoo.com.

I got to get back to World Series. Good Tenn/Ala
    football game today....5 overtimes....WOW!
