What version of Windows does this header represent -- "MSIE 9.0;Windows NT 6.1; Trident/5.0"?

  1. Hi, In our Apache logs, we're seeing requests with this UserAgent header:

    Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 9.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/5.0

What platform/OS is this? Windows 7? The "Trident/5.0" is throwing me off. Thanks, - Dave

It's IE9 on Windows 7. Trident is the name for the IE
    rendering "engine".

    Here's IE10 on Win7 64-bit:

    Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; Trident/6.0)

    Here's IE10 on Windows 8:

    Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MSIE 10.0; Windows NT 6.2; WOW64; Trident/6.0)

Everything available now is Windows NT:
    NT5.0 - Win2000
    NT5.1 - XP
    NT5.2 - Server 2003
    NT6.0 - Vista
    NT6.1 - Win7
    NT6.2 - Win8

I don't know about Windows RT (Metro only). It
shouldn't be called NT at all. If it is then it may
    be indistinguishable from Win8.
