WHQL and NDIS Drivers

Discussion in 'Windows Vista Drivers' started by Dmitri Arekhta, Aug 6, 2008.

  1. Hello all,

We have the NDIS5.1 driver for WinXP, which works well in Vista. We want to
obtain WHQL certification for this driver for XP and for Vista. However to
get Vista WHQL we need to supply driver for Vista x64. The question is: can
NDIS5.1 miniport driver be WHQL signed for Vista and Vista x64?

    Thank you,
    Dmitri.

  5. What? This was well after Vista launched, yes.

Indeed... the WLP spec of March still allows NDIS 5.0 drivers
for 10/100 Mbps LAN adaptes (NETWORK-0040)
    It's interesting.

  7. Well, in fairness, I was only doing the driver reliability tests to
get the WHQL signature. No logo. However, it seems I am still
    right :)

The 2K/XP/Vista x86 version of the driver is indeed 5.0, it's only 5.1
for XP/Vista x64 because (I suppose) that's the default NDIS version
when you pull up the x64 build environment...
