It's not their 7th OS so why call it Windows7? I think they are
practising witchcraft and is why they are using 7.

    SEVENS

Order of the Planets as they appeared to the Ancients in an Earth-
    centered universe:

    1- Moon; 2-Mercury; 3-Venus; 4-Sun; 5-Mars; 6- Saturn; 7-Jupiter

Seven are the planets known to the Ancients

Seven are the colors of the rainbow

Seven are the stars in the plough (The Great Bear)

Seven are the nights in each quarter of the moon

Seven are the directions of the circle

Seven are the power centers of the body

Seven are the planes of the Universe

Seven are the notes of the musical scale

Seven are the Tenets of the Wicca

The number seven has always been a magical and mystical number. The
sacredness of the number seven is taken from Pagan sources, as it is
found in the famous pagan romance, The Golden Ass, by Lucius Apuleius,
who was a priest of Isis. The story is a parable of his initiation, and
he tells how he obtained a vision of the goddess upon the seashore by
night, at the time of the full moon: "Wherefore, shaking off my drowsy
sleep, I arose with a joyful face and moved by a great affection to
    purify myself, I plunged my head seven times into the water of the sea;
which number seven is convenable and agreeable to holy and divine things,
as the worthy and sage philosopher Pythagoras hath declared." (William
    Adlington's translation, 1566)

  8. Well, the weird thing is that the development builds of 'Windows 7' are
numbered as NT 6.1. I guess they changed plans at some stage to get it out
as soon as possible, because of Vista's bad reputation.

When you write something, or say have a baby... you get to name it. This
can be a book, movie or whatever.

That's just the way it is...

Not really, seeing as how W7 is being built on Vista.

I guess they changed plans at some stage to get it out

  19. Well, you've come up with a list that doesn't fit with the facts. NT3.1 was
the first on the NT line, and Windows 2000 is NT5, and was referred to as
such while it was being developed. Calling it Windows 2000 was a last
minute change for marketing purposes, as they thought the NT line was mature
enough to replace Win9x, and needed more emphasis. They ended up cancelling
the home version of NT5, 'Windows Neptune', but they finally replaced Win9x
with XP Home. As XP was relatively minor update to Win2000, it was NT5.1.
Vista is NT6 and, strangely, it looks like Windows 7 will be NT6.1.

What is the strange part? Vista is the basis for W7.
