Why kernel debug engine doesn't break on kernel-mode traps?

Discussion in 'Windows Vista Drivers' started by Eugene Muzychenko, Nov 8, 2011.

  1. Hello!

In kernel debugging mode (for example, with WinDbg), there is no way
to get a first-chance break on some exceptions (divide by zero,
integer overflow, page fault in non-paged area etc.). Why NT debug
engine does not break into debugger processing these exceptions but
    generates a bugcheck first?

    Regards,
    Eugene
