Why would RWW stop working suddenly?

Discussion in 'Windows Small Business Server' started by chiptransisto, Jun 4, 2005.

  1. I have been using RWW for a long time. Suddenly, I can not log on to one of
my computers using RWW. I can log on to the server with RWW and I can log on
to the other computers but I can't log on to this one computer that I used to
log on to using RWW. I have reset the server and the computer but the
    problem was not fixed.
Any ideas of why this happened?

  2. Run IPCONFIG on the computer and see what IP it returns. Then go to another
computer and ping the machine name and see if it returns the correct IP.
Sometimes the A Record gets confused and you may have to delete and flush
    the cache

  3. How do you flush the cache? I did switch from a static IP on the client to
using DHCP. It sounds like you are on the right track.

  4. Check the XP firewall, ensure that remote desktop is allowed. I had that
'suddenly' happen last week, and I don't recall making a change to XP
firewall, but sure enough it was blocking RDP.
