We have an evaluation copy of Windows 2003 Server that we have installed on
one of our test machines. The evaluation period has now expired and we want
to upgrade to a regular license for Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition. Is
there a way to perform this update-conversion without having to trash our
current installation and start from scratch?

    Thanks,
    MN @ Hzn

  2. Hi,
yes, you can perform a repair installation by booting from CD and proceeding
to the installation startup. This should recognize the existing installation
and offer to upgrade. But of course this may depend from the version, you
cant upgrade the Windows 2003 Enterprise Eval. to Windows 2003 Standard.

I have a similar problem -- can I use this same method to "upgrade" from my
eval version of Win Server 2003 Enterprise to a legit license key?

  5. yes you can use a repair installation - but your license version needs to be
the Enterprise version again, since downgrading during upgrade is not an
    option.
