    Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to find out whether Windows Media 9 Services is the right
direction to in with regards to a problem I have.

I have HTML presentations on a web server that reference static AVI file.
Browsing to them over a high-speed LAN is fine, bit over remote connections,
the entire file takes time to download before it can be played back.

Is it possible to implement streaming services in such away that when the
client browser requests a static AVI/WMV file on the server, something on the
server kicks in and says "All right, this file needs to be streamed," and
    processes it appropriately?

I hope that what I'm suggesting is clear, and thanks in advance for any help
    offered,

    Ajay

First off, AVI is not necessarily WMV. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVI.

Assuming WMV, what you're asking for is supported by WMS by using an on-demand
    publishing point.
