Hi all. In a Windows 2000 AD Domain, a user can login with
    username,password,netbios domain OR + password.

The difference is obvious at the surface level. The first method being the
older NETBIOS (NT4) method, the latter being the newer method. My question
is, are there advantages/disadvantages to one or the other?

  3. Hello Dave,

If you log on per UPN you'll have to have a GC available, even in
Windows 2000 mixed mode. If you log on with domain\user in mixed mode,
you don't need a GC. If you are running in native mode you need a GC.

You are able to configure the behavior of GC logon requirement via GPO.
