In our system we currently have Win2003 R2 Enterprise as the only domain
controller, dhcp, wins and dns server. I would like to add a secondary domain
controller which have Wind2003 Enterprise Edition installed. Is it possible
to do this or it is recommended to use same version of operating system?

    thank you

  2. Hi Darren,
It is possible to have a WS03 Ent Ed DC in the same forest as the R2 DC.
The "Best Practice" though, as you can imagine, is to have your DCs at the
same OS and Patch levels. This is so you are better able to control
configuration management for your AD inf. Do you have a specific reason for
not using R2 on the second DC?

    Regards,

    Austin

The only reason for not using R2 on the second DC is i currently have other
2003 enterprise running on other servers.

However I think I better set another server and keep the same OS version as
    DC1.
