    Hi,

I am having issues with Windows Server 2003 as its been hanging very
    frequenty.

This occurred after I was doing a windows update on the server and it
downloaded Windows Installer 3.1, after it finished installing 3.1 it asked
me to reboot, which I did then I noticed it took at least 45 minutes to boot
to the login screen as it was just sitting at the Applying Computer Settings
    window.

After I logged in, certain applications would be unresponsive, such as not
being able to go on to any web sites after I clicked on Internet Explorer.
However, I am able to go on the Internet using Netscape.

Whenever I click on the Connection tab in the Internet Properties window, my
    computer would hang.

I cannot uninstall applications from my computer, neither can I stop
services fully as the services I stopped just says "stopping". I can't
uninstall Windows Installer 3.1 which was the last thing installed

However, I could ping the server, connect to the shared folders remotely
    from other computers.

One of the errors I would get in the log is this:

    Source: Application Hang
    Category: (101)
    Event ID: 1002
    Type: Error
    User: N/A
Description: Hanging application explorer.exe version 6.0.3790.0 hang module
hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000

I would also get an identical log that has an "Hanging application
    Rundll32.exe" instead of explorer.exe.

Has anyone had this problem before and does anyone know how it can be
    resolved?

    Thanks in advance.

Do you have a APC UPS attached to your Server?
If so, is it running software version 6.xx?. If it is, then update or
    deinstall the APC software NOW.

    Thanks Neil and CL.

I upgraded the PowerChute Business Edition to v7.0.4 and it fixed the
    problems I was having.

Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
