All of a sudden a lot of my cdroms are not being

earlier and some that worked befor I upgraded to XP Home
edition. No hardware changes just OS.

More than likely you need to update or reinstall your IDE drivers.
Especially if you were upgrading from windows 95 or 98. Go to your
motherboard manufactures site and download the newest drivers.
You'll need to know what model motherboard you have. If it doesnt
display on the boot screen you'll have to take a peek inside the
case. Most chipset manufactures provide a full driver set for all of
    your boards built on devices.

If this doesnt solve your problem its probably the drive itself.
Luckily they are cheap these days.

    Good Luck!
