Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)

    pls can someone advise me on what is the purpose of this service. What is
    the impact\result of turning it off ???

  3. it controls simply what it says, the windows firewall which protects your
    pc..and the ability to share your network connection to the internet amongst
    other computers in your lan.

    Turning it off wont hurt anything but if you have the wish to use the
    firewall to protect you it will hurt that ability

  4. The Windows Firewall is not recommended as your primary firewall as it only
    blocks suspicious inbound connections. You're better off with a third party
    firewall like Zone Alarm which blocks both inbound and outbound connections.

    If you use a hardware firewall, your computer dont need a softwar
    firewall.

    My firewall is build-in in my Dlink DI-604, and my software firewall i
    the Worm protector in Norton Antivirus 2005. So the Windows firewal
    isnt necessary.

    Before, i used Norton Internet Security 2005, but after the change, m
    system running more stability and safe.

    My system is Windows Media Center 2005
