I think you better bite your tongue before slagging off.
I have the same problem on a clients machine and it IS a real Legit copy of
Windows XP Installed by me 2 years ago.
I think an apology and a solution might be in order.
In future one might politely ask " is it a legal copy of Windows?" before
    casting aspersions.

Further to my comments about your statement "Only folks that "think" ..." I
    have got mine working now.
But I think in future you might think a little more carefully before saying
    things like that.

Don't you love the arrogance of these M$ Clones? They are a mirror
image of their master in thinking that the great unwashed out here are
all thieves and that the Malware WGA would never, ever give a false
positive. I wouldn't put it past clones like the infamous MVP Fish to
actually think that WGA is in fact making a mistake when it PASSES one
    of the great unwashed.
That means nothing to these M$ites. We are all nothing but a bunch of
thieving pirates to them. And even though we must prove it over and
over and over and over and over that we aren't, they still do not
believe it and that's why we must keep proving it over and over and
over and over and over, again and again and again........

Let's see, if MY paid for copy of XP passes the infamous malware WGA
thief test today then that means I am the valid paid for owner of this
copy. Now if I have to prove it all over again next time the infamous
malware WGA demands and that it proved last time that I was the legal
paid for owner of the OS, then the only thing it could be looking for
    is if I STOLE IT OFF *** M Y S E L F! ***

    Regards,

  6. If your issue is that WGA is asserting that your Windows is not genuine,
then please post in the WGA Support Forum at
    http://forums.microsoft.com/Genuine/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=442&SiteID=25

If your issue is that there is something wrong with Windows Update, then
please stay in this newsgroup and give more details about the symptoms you
are seeing. Post verbatim error messages or error numbers.
