What's the story with Windows Live Mail Desktop and Windows Desktop Search, the latter does not seem to indexing the former. I've included all of c:\documents and settings\<acctname>\Local Settings\... as places which WDS should index. I can see all the .eml files why can't WDS. Do I need a special filter, if so, from where do I get it
This is a repeat of what you posted at There was a comprehensive answer to that posting that you seem to have overlooked. What happens if you click news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop ? There's no need to use a third-party news server to access ms newsgroups, and doing so might provide a less satisfactory service, as you seem to have shown.
So what is the answer? Per Microsoft, I switched to Windows Live Mail from Outlook Express since Express will not support hotmail after June. I use the find feature of Express daily to find email messages that contain certain text. I have XP and the find of Windows Live does not support searching text in XP. It was my understanding that Desktop Search needed to be loaded and could be used to do this. I have been unsuccessful in getting it to work and cannot find any instructions on what to do to get it to work. Any help would be much appreciated. prf
Search does work sometimes in the web forum, too! http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...ce3bb5-1c00-4191-83c5-d2e66db7ca72&sloc=en-us -- Noel
