Windows media will not play any movie media file of any type

    I try and open mpeg - mpg - avi - divx - etc. and nothing happens excpet an
    error message that says

    'Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the
    file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.'

    Close or more information

    it says in the more info that the file I try to play is not readable -
    except I used to be able to play all my movie files and now it doesnt play
    any - I have xp sp2 and media player 10

    also I have ntfs file system and latest computer (basically)

    has my computer got bug???
