Windows update express and custom both are failing today -- they u

Is the update site having problems?

 

I am seeing this too. Update just hangs for hours in "The updates are being
downloaded and installed" window. No other messages appear. I've tried
express and custome installed, and even went to each individual path to
attempt a successful download.

 

You are getting farther than I was yesterday with xp windows update. The
problem I was having was when I clicked on custom or express -- the web page
would not display -- it gave me some error message. I went to the knowledge
base and looked up the error message -- followed those directions for my
particular error -- then it still would not work. I tried it first thing
today -- it is OK -- so I don't know what cured the problem. Maybe I needed
to re-boot after I followed the directions, but they did not say to do that.
Just re-start explorer which is what I did.
